Letitia’s Story:

I was at Turquoise last night with my boyfriend. We had such a great time! In fact I wanted to write and thank you for reminding me of a part of life and soul that I feared gone – at least here in San Diego…

But I’ve held on to the belief that it’s all possible!

Last night was the perfect distillation of all that I’ve been missing and that I desire life to contain. My boyfriend has heard me express this longing but didn’t really understand. Until last night. Turquoise was full of life, dancing, music, food, smiling strangers – who could become new friends or lovers by the end of the evening! The food was delicious – the flavors, the presentation, the garlic! The detail, time and taste that goes into an absinthe drink. The colors in the room, the couches, the mix of people, the play, the lightness of spirit, the dog in a sweater on the dancefloor….

All reminded me of that part of my soul.

I said to Anthony, “THIS is what I’ve been talking about.” ❤

Dear Basilio, thank you for the space you create and the life you bring to it. Thanks to your staff and to the guests who seek this out, the food, the music, the company.

We left with huge smiles on our faces. Reaffirmed that life can be lived to the full, in the midst of struggles, seriousness, jobs, politics. That making – and enjoying – a little plate of dates wrapped in bacon can, indeed, be a virtue.

We’ll be back. I’m not sure how or why I let the connection to this way of life lapse for so long. You’ll be seeing us more often. In fact, I may have to move closer!

Warmest regards,

Letitia

PS – When our big African Uber driver picked us up outside, we drove away glowing.  The driver was from Nigeria so, of course, I mentioned Fela Kuti. Our ride home was filled with great conversation, music played off youtube and our driver’s big, hearty laughter! —— Yes, life can be so lovely.

Patrick & Kayte’s Story:

Our Romantic Experience at Turquoise: …  Last December I was fortunate to meet an amazing woman named Kayte. She lives in Pacific Beach and I hadn’t been there much before that night.  We met just before that and this would be our first “real date”.

As some of you may know the silly question comes up of course, where would you like to go out eat. Back and forth it goes, where would like to go!

Finally we head out on foot and happen upon this really cool spot named Turquoise. We’re talking amazing food, great wine, music and an atmosphere with such a great vibe. We sat outside at the fire pit which was perfect. Sharing conversation about everything and anything we notice a gentleman dancing and having the time of his life which puts a smile on Kayte and my face just thinking how cool it is to love life that much!

He came outside and approached our table asking how everything was… simply amazing we responded as he introduced himself, Basilio.

Kayte and I shared a quick conversation about how much we were enjoying ourselves.   I then asked him how he had those dance moves and what his secret was… he asked if I surfed and I responded yes.

Basilio then told me the music is like the waves and you let it do the work while you just lose yourself in the moment. Probably one of the best things I’ve ever heard.   We stayed and danced for three hours.

Thank you Basilio for such a memorable time and dining experience.  Kayte and I are going strong for 5 months now, and I will remember the time we had the most wonderful date at Turquoise with our new friend Basilio, and we’re still dancing and letting the waves do the work… much love.
